Please note! No Snow Whites were harmed in the making of this project.
Do you love fairytales as much as I do? I’m obsessed! From Disney to Ever After High I am ALL over it. I like this mirror as a delightful way to bring the story book magic into my own bedroom.
Keeping things earth friendly and human friendly is super important to me so I didn’t want to use plastic acrylic paint for this project. Instead I mixed gold mica (an earth made mineral) with walnut oil to makes a gorgeous paint. Perfect!
I chose wooden letters and although the mirror is plastic I already owned it and it had a crack in the back. Upcycling is always better than throwing it away! The E6000 glue isn’t bio friendly at all but I had purchased it a long time ago and didn’t see how throwing it away would help. If you know of an effective non-toxic glue that would work let me know! I still have so much to learn about sustainable crafting. :)
YOU WILL NEED:
Gold mica (here)
Walnut oil (health food store)
Wood letters (here)
E6000 glue
Hand mirror
Paint brush
Begin by mixing up your very own gorgeous non-toxic gold paint! I used a teaspoon of gold mica with a teaspoon of walnut oil and then mixed it together with my paint brush. Tweak until you get a consistency you like.
Paint the letters gold and let dry.
Use E6000 glue (if you know of a less toxic glue let me know!) to attach the letters to the mirror. Let dry.
Watch out for poisonous apples and jealous queens!
