I know I’ve said before that I don’t like violent movies or shows but Breaking Bad is the exception to that rule.

When I began watching one of the first things that struck me about the show was the wardrobes. The outfits weren’t fancy or complex but they felt so deliberate.

I was curious so I hopped on Google and found out that Vince Gilligan (the creator of the show) and his costume designer scoped out the main characters wardrobe colors for EACH episode. Together, the two of them brilliantly use clothing colors and color in general as omens, hints, and insight into the different characters. For instance (tiny spoiler alert)…

It’s fascinating! While I know it’s not a new concept I’ve never seen it done so subtly and with so much power. It made me wonder what MY wardrobe would look like if I was in the show.

I attempted to discover that today with my fellow Breaking Bad addict/husband. For our wardrobe I went with an emphasis on personality instead of personal crisis because right now I thankfully am not involved in any drug rings or money laundering. At least…that you know of. ;)
